The EFR Suite has been developed for fertility clinics and hospitals. This specialized EMR fully supports the business activity and the administrative tasks of doctors, specialists, researchers, and laboratory technicians in the field of reproductive medicine. The EFR simplifies day-to-day operations, so that users can dedicate as much as possible of their (often limited) time to research and to actual patient care.
The EFR enables safe digital registration and managing of patient information, while also making it possible to perform data analyses. The system gives the user direct insight into patients’ status, the treatment plan, and the treatment progress, while the EFR also takes care of things such as correspondence, consultation scheduling, and procedure registration. The EFR is built modulary, so if a hospital or an independent treatment center has any additional requirements, the EFR can easily be expanded to include additional modules such as a planner, a scan module, a signature module, invoicing, etc.
“ Thanks to this user-friendly system, the limited time that we have can actually be dedicated to our patients, rather than being wasted on all kinds of administrative tasks.”
The EFR has a unique structure: the functionalities have been chosen by gynecologists and embryologists. This is an ongoing process. The participating doctors, such as gynecologists and clinical embryologists, remain closely involved in the further development and expansion of the system. Through workgroup meetings, the users’ needs are always clear and the system is in line with the practice. Both clinical and lab-related activities are focused on.
Using the EFR, the professional community in the Netherlands wants to achieve national uniformity and transparency in the fertility treatment registration. With the help of digital registration and reporting, the focus can be on sharing and applying the information in scientific research and on continuously improving the care services. The EFR is already used in almost all hospitals and clinics in the Netherlands and it continues to spread nationally. Because the EFR is based on the Stb Care Framework, it can easily be adapted to national-specific needs.
The EFR is compatible with every Hospital Information System (HIS), such as EPIC, SAP, and Chipsoft. The system also complies with the HL7 standards. Because it’s a web-based application, the EFR is accessible from any location within the hospital. This user-friendly system can easily be accessed by the full range of users, from specialists to medical receptionists. Patient information can be retrieved with one click and it is easy to collect and store data.
The EFR is based on the Stb Care Framework. The Stb Care Framework offers care providers a web-based registration environment, where relevant patient information and history can be checked. The digital care platform can be geared towards specialized fields, with their own local specific situation. Therefore, in addition to Fertility (EFR), it can be adapted to national-specific needs.
Below is a brief overview of the possibilities.
The Web-Based agenda is a practice planner that can easily be opened from the EFR navigation menu. The agenda is well organized and can be tailored to your specific needs. You can choose a one-day view or zoom out for a three-day, five-day, or one-week view. You can also display several user agendas at the same time. The agenda is linked to the patient, which makes it easy to switch to the relevant record and back. This gives you a quick insight into relevant patient information, such as consultations or letters. By applying filters, you can easily find a possible consultation date for a patient. The web-based agenda is a user-friendly, complete and feature-rich tool.
The donor module makes it possible to link donors and patients. This is done by advanced searches based on external features. The system also provides matching, unlike a regular cryobank. The module uses a reservation system. When it finds a match, the donor’s straws are reserved. This gives the user insight into the virtual stock (to be used). The release of semen is also managed in this module. The cumulative results are made transparent for each donor, so that it is clear, e.g., how many women have become pregnant from a specific donor.
This module adds witnessing as an integral part of the workflow in your laboratory. The witnessing module uses 2D DataMatrix barcodes. This type of barcode takes up less space, while also being very reliable and unique. Labels are created automatically based on data from the EFR. When scanned, each unique barcode is recorded and validated. This makes double scanning impossible.
The Signature module allows patients to place a digital signature, e.g. before and after a procedure. This signature is automatically recorded in the EFR. The signature can be seen as an additional guarantee. A drawing tablet or a touchscreen computer is needed in order to use this module.
The interactive online patient portal enables patients to view parts of their record online. For instance, their appointments, correspondence, and stimulation schedule. Patients can also use the online patient portal to fill in a predefined questionnaire. The data is then automatically fed into the EFR and the doctor only needs to validate the information. It is also possible to schedule text message reminders for the patient, to remind them of an upcoming appointment. The interactive online patient portal meets rigorous security requirements.
